I had windows 2000 on my computer and decided to put XP on
it. I reconfigured the computer with XP, but when it
boots up it still shows that 2000 is on it. It is taking
up about 1/4 of my hard drive space. What can I do to get
2000 completely off of it?
Thanks

Hi,

Load WinXP, delete any Win2000 system folders using Windows Explorer. Then,
start/run C:\boot.ini and remove the reference to the unwanted system from
the [operating systems] section.

Rick,

If Windows 2000 is taking up a quarter as he/she (Ashley over here is
primarily a boy's name, in the US it's female) states, then that leaves me
to conclude the drive can't be much bigger than 4GB. If that's the case,
then I can only wonder about the rest of the system if it's up to running
XP. The first thing the OP should consider is purchasing a bigger drive.
With 80GB drives on sale for less than 50p a GB, there really is no excuse
for having one that small. Even my father's old P3 1.2GHz (which was running
2000 Pro, which I upgraded to XP Pro as a clean installation was needed to
remove all the server references) had a 10GB drive to begin with (that died
and Dell replaced it with a WD 80GB with 8MB cache).
