Hi,
I'm trying to create an animation which demonstrates the different
layers of the Earth. I'm pretty much a newbie to this, so I'm not sure
where to even start looking.

I want to start at the core, and then build out with a "slice" always
cut out so I can annotate the different layers. One other challenge is
that since each layer is a different thickness I need to be able to
adjust for this too. Can someone suggest where I can find something like
this?

Thanks

ben

You can make different sized circles, all center starting by the largest.
Then animate with opening, starting with the smallest one, by click

Jean-Pierre,

Thanks for the suggestion.. but circles are insufficient.. I want to
make it look like a ball or a sphere shape..

Benjamin,
PowerPoint isn't a 3D application and the drawing tools are fairly limited.
You will need to create this in a suitable program like Photoshop and import
it into PowerPoint.
Or use this add-in:

Luc,

I just looked at perspector, and it looks like it might do the trick.
I'll get back to you .. thanks for the tip.

Luc,

Are there other add-in's that you can recommend. Perspector doesn't have
what I'm looking for specifically.

PowerFrameworks, www.powerframworks.com, has a series of layered spheres.
You can see a preview image on their starting site, but have to have a
subscription to download it. But you cannot make a "layered" animation with
it, as the inner layers have no "globe surfaces".

If you know how to use a program like Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator, you
could draw the illustration yourself.

Best regards,
Ute

Ute.. thanks.. PowerFrameworks actually had the globe.. and I downloaded
their sample, and I now understand how to create my own..

thanks again
