Need to copy files

My laptop is on its last leg. I have never done backups/made copies of files
that I will need.

I tried the select all in my documents and besides the individual files I
want to send it hilites things like my received files etc, when i try and
take the hilite off it , it takes it off all files :(

Any easy tips anyone can give me for just copying document and picture files
would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks

Use the "Files and Settings Transfer Wizard" in Windows XP to save the
files to a network drive or removable backup device.
