Background:
i am a mac video editor who also does flash work
BUT i am not really a programmer - i do some actionscript and that is
it
i created a flash swf with a simple 4 section navigation menu and a
clickable link at the end for viewing on a company's intranet site
the client wants to create a wmv file of this project and i don't know
enough about wmv to know whether this is even possible. i know that
the actionscript will be lost, but the client wants to emulate the
navigation and clickable link anyway.

now i have a budget and i can buy a PC and movie maker if necessary,
but i need to know:
do i need to do this on a PC?
is this possible?
would movie maker do what i need to do here?
if not, do you know of a program that does?

the end file must be a wmv file with a simple 4 section navigation and
a clickable link at the end for viewing on an intranet web page.
thanks in advance for you help, rebecca

You Cannot convert Flash SWF to WMV Because SWF Is an internet file that sometimes you have to click on it for it to play. I've tried before but it will not convert.

thanks for your reply - LOL. i thoroughly understand all of that.
sorry i should have been clearer, the swf i am looking to "convert"
has only 2 basic pieces of AS interactivity the rest is really just a
linear animation. i can handle that if i combine all animation into
the main timeline and do an export out to quicktime and then convert
the quicktime to wmv using cleaner. HOWEVER the client wants to keep
the simple 4 section navigation and the url at the end they want to be
active and clickable. my questions are:

can a simple 4 section, chapter style animation be done with scripting
in a wmv?
i read this may be possible, but i do not know
if so is this the program i want to do this?
if not, can you recommend a program that does allow the scripting to
do this?

otherwise i go back to the client and say while i can export the
linear animation itself, the interactivity is a complete wash - see
what i'm saying? thanks in advance for your help with this.

This is not something you can do with moviemaker, you'd be better asking the
question in the windowsmedia newsgroup, where hopefully MVP Neil Smith will
pick it up and give you an answer.

no this is good - i was wondering if i was in the right place. thank
you for your help, rebecca

If you haven't received your answer yet, here it is:
No, you cannot add any sort of "clickable" content to a regular wmv. Your
best bet would be to convert the animation to a wmv, then put your clickable
content into HTML.
