Michael

I have a laptop with a broken screen. I want to plug a monitor into
the back of the laptop and use it as a screen. XP home does not seem
to clone automatically. Is there anything that I can do to get the
laptop to start up on the desktop monitor?

The laptop is a Sony R505EL.

Thanks for the help ... Michael

Perhaps in the BIOS? Or just press Fn+F7 until you get a picture.

There should be some sort of key sequence you can use to tell the laptop
which video output to use. Check the manual that came with the laptop and
I'm sure you'll find it.
