need task alarm/clock/reminder thingy

Greetings All,

for years I used a little program called BarClock. It was great. Had the
clock up on the task bar showing the time, had message alarms to remind me of
things to do and it gonged on the hour and half hour with a wav file of my
choosing. Alas, I've been moved to WinXP and now BarClock, which was written
for NT, causes problems with some memory. I get all sorts of errors.

Any ideas what I can use to replace it? No post-it note types of programs
please. I just want something in the background.
