After enduring 10 years of webtv limitations I'm now ready to step up to
a P.C. I've decided on the PC brand but am still somewhat open minded
re my choice of printer.

As of now I'm thinking almost exclusively in terms of a Laser Printer
with my main objectives being reliability and avoidance of high cost
frequent replacement toner cartridges.

No plans for photo printing or graphics, just simple text printing black
on white, with a total outlay not exceeding $200 for the new printer.

Would appreciate pros and cons from users who've had experience with
Laser printers which basically fall within the above guidelines.

Many thanks,

K.

Hi!

I have had good results from the inexpensive Samsung laser printers and
would recommend them. Toner isn't prohibitively expensive for the ones I
have, and refilled cartridges are available if you want to use them.

HP's lower end LaserJet line (I have a LaserJet 1200) is pretty good too,
but I don't know about paying the price for HP's name being on the front.
Had I not gotten an outrageously good deal on mine, I wouldn't have bought
it.

I like the older HP printers. LJ4+, LJ5, LJ4000, LJ4050, LJ4100.

All out of production but available and not expensive. I own 2 4050Ts
and I love them. Built like tanks.

Watch your local Staples and such for specials.
I got a $150 Lexmark E238 for $100 and am quite happy (But lexmark inkjets
suck)
