Can anyone recommend a good spyware remover.
Thanks in advance for any help offered.
If you need additional help, please explain what you need in more
detail. Spyware covers a broad spectrum from specialized keyloggers
to apparently harmless adware and statistics gathering. Are you
currently infected and trying to remove something specific? Looking
for a general prophylactic? For home or business?
In addition to Spybot and Ad-aware, try the very quick online
PestScan. These three overlap but each finds things the other
doesn't. PestScan errs on the excessive side, recommending removals
that many consider OK. SpywareBlaster will disable (but not remove)
many invaders. Runs just once, but remember to check for updates
every week or two.

Most of the applications listed from here on do not _remove_ spyware
but will help you identify it. You can then remove it manually or
find a specialized remover. All three of these look for trojans, but
ony SpyHunter looks for more general adware.

avast!
AntiVir
AVG
BitDefender
Antidote
avast!, AntiVir, and AVG are antivirus applications that include
ondemand ("real-time") monitors, onrequest scans, and disinfection
free for home use (see
www.pricelessware.org). BitDefender's free
version (see
www.bitdefender.com) and Antidote (onrequest scan only)
(
www.vintage-solutions.com) do not disinfect, but many specific tools
are available on bitdefender site. These will all find some spyware
depending upon the techniques used by the spyware.
I have listed some of the online antivirus scanners available. Some
also disinfect or provide separate removal tools at the site.
Symantec's Norton AntiVirus 2004 was expected to have new
antiadware/spyware features, but I haven't investigated this yet.
These are not likely to eliminate your problem but many regard using
one or two as a prerequisite for further help.
