Hi. Recently my HD crashed (damaged FAT, and many overwritten
directory entries) and I lost many pictures on it. I used few recovery
utilities. They recovered many files, but I'm interested only in valid
pictures (JPG and BMP). I cannot depend on file extension. The rest of
the recovery can be deleted. I need some utility, which sorts out only
valid pictures. I tried that manually, but it's time-consuming work
(there are cca 20.000 of recovered files). Thanks for any suggestion.

I use IrfanView and the great option to show different icons for each
format (Icons-Plugin within the plug-ins bundle).

It's under Properties > Extensions > Miscellanous = Icons for the
associations; optional you can use tiny thumbnails for BMPs.
Off course only if these graphic types are associated to Iview.

Not exactly what I was looking for, but it will do the job. At least I
can see over 100 thumbnails at once and select all the bad among them
by CTRL + L.MOUSE.
The refreshing after delete is very quick, that's important. Many
thanks!
