Hi Guys
If you happened to read my previous posts, i mentioned that i am developing
a website for my company. now what happened is a third person has commented
on using the front page for website development and insists we hire him to do
the your advise ..same..
i need your advise as in what he says is true or not..i dont believe him but
in need
he said
"FrontPage is not really a good advice for a web site - you are unlikely to
get a good looking site, and there will be a bottleneck
with only one person being able to add content- in fact all of the bad
problems can occur..I
am thinking of the OpenStrategies and the mailing list technology in the
Effusion Group . . . as well as the "portal" functionality"

pls help

So hard to read: i instead of I, No CAPS for the beginning of sentences,
etc. did you proof this message?
"insists we hire him to do the your advise ..same.." What does that mean??
Please rewrite the message more clearly.
What exactly is your question?

FrontPage can be used to built any type of site, it is just a tool. It is the user that determine
the look of the web site.

FrontPage is just as good a tool as any. When it comes to web development,
it still takes talent to create the site. Without the talent it doesn't
matter on the tool. They will all do essentially the same thing for you.
It's the vision and skill that will make it happen. one of the best web
sites have been designed in tools no more complex than notepad. If the
individual who wants to be hired "insists" you hire him to help you save
yourselves from using FrontPage, check out his credentials and his
portfolio. If he hasn't designed anything that actually looks good (and you
need to verify what he has designed) then it really doesn't help you out in
any situation.

Oh, and there doesn't need to be a content bottleneck. Just like any web
site, you need a tool to be able to adjust the content. FrontPage can do
this as anyone you want to edit the site can be given a copy of FrontPage
and be able to edit the site directly. His comment is stupid and uninformed.
Even Macromedia had created a program called Contribute to do the same
thing, enable users who needed to edit the site access to it just like
FrontPage can. This individual is exaggerating for effect in order to scare
you into hiring him.

Hope this helps,

What's even stoopider is if you look at a the sites within the Effusion
Group...one for sure has FP code.

OP; you can do a portal in conjunction with FP. Do you really need a portal?

Looks like a portal alright. Portals are pretty easy once you get them setup
and you'd not need FP or any editor really...except a graphics editor for
your images. There are lots of portal software out there (free) like
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/ which is asp.

You may not need this guy :-)
