My son just got a new PC. The vendor is asking us to leave feedback on
Pricewatch. I dont want to complain unless my complaints are valid. The PC
came with the power not plugged into the hard drive. When we first tryed to
start up the PC (not knowing the HDD was unplugged) it wanted to boot from
the Network. If the PC had been set up properly and the power had wiggled
loose in transit would it have changed to try to boot from the network
because it thought it had no hard drive or is that an error of thiers? Also
after I had plugged in the HDD in the Bios setup screen it showed no hard
drive but detected it immediately when I chose detect all HDDs. Would that
maybe point to it never having been installed? OR because it detected it in
a split second does that mean it had once been properly installed?

Thanks for your help
Rebecca

dont reply to email address, it is old and obsolete.

Rebecca, it should have been set to Auto Detect in the Bios. The
computer looks for a boot source, ie: floppy, cdrom
hard drive etc. You can set which one the computer looks at first in
the Bios. If the Molex Connector was not connected
to the hard drive then either it was sloppily or never placed. Usually
that's a secure fit. You have to give a little tug to
remove the connector.
