i need some help with making pictures not square... like desktop icons that
are round or different shapes, etc. i usually use paint but it always saves
as square shape cause of the background. is there a way to do it on paint or
a free program i could download? kinda hard to explain what i mean, sorry if
none of this makes sense! thanks!!

if i am not mistaken,
most, if not all icons,
are square. They simply
have the background portion
set or painted to be transparent...

image editors vary and they
all offer something or another
that is different between them.

If you create a cutout / save it / and then
open it in IrfanView...you can go to...
File / Save As...and choose...
....ICO - Windows Icon...

On the ICO Save Options pallette...
check the box...Save Transparent Color.
Then you will see a screen that lets you
select the Transparent Color which...of
course would be the background..

Download IrfanView

(get the plug-ins too)

If you do not have a program to create
the basic cutout...try the 60 day trial
