Need some help with Licensing...can't connect to shared drives suddenly

Win2k Adv Server. Licensing shows that for Windows Server, we only have 5
licenses Per Server Purchased, and 8 Per Server Reached. All of the other
tabs are blank.
If I look at the properties of Windows Server, Clients (Per Seat) and
Purchase History are blank. Server Browser shows 5 purchased, 9 in use(seems
to be conflicint with what the Products View main tab shows?).

Does this mean that more people are logging/authenticating to the server
than we have licenses for? This didn't seem to be a problem until this
afternoon when a user rebooted. She couldn't connect back to a shared drive
that was mapped. When I signed into the machine as myself, I was able to
connect....

Can I edit the server to remove the licenses, then let the users grab them
back on a first come first serve basis?

TIA...dead in the water!
Nathan

No license was available for user Domain\User using product SMBServer 5.0.

Does that help?

Hi Nathan,

I'm by no means and expert on Licensing nor SBS, but want to know if you have seen the following articles?

Thanks for the link.
I have seen those before. I think I may have to reset the license store and
see what happens..not something I'd like to do.
As the new Sys. Admin, I wonder how the company has gotten away with more
users per licenses before without any problems.

I'm currently reviewing the Open License Value plan, as we are about to add
more employees and desktops.

There wouldn't happen to be a known way to check which machines have CAL's
in use, would there?
