Had Windows XP Home and used WinFax Pro 10.2. Have upgraded to Vista Premium
and WinFax Pro 10.2 will not install correctly. Is there a software fax
program that will work with Vista Premium. I do not want to spend another
$100 and get Vista Business for the sole purpose of sending/receiving faxes.
I have visited Best Buy, Staples, etc. and no one can help me. Any help?
Thank you in advance.

The only versions of Windows Vista that include a fax application are Vista
Business and Vista Ultimate. You might want to upgrade to those versions,
or, visit http://www.getfaxing.com forums to see if you can get WinFax PRO
to work with Vista.

I really like Vista and think it is a very good step forward! It also seems
to be quite stable, especially for a new release!

Having said that, I am disappointed that I have to buy Windows Vista
Ultimate to get the both the Microsoft-supported Faxing software and Windows
Media Center.

I purchased Vista Home Premium in good faith on 1/30/07 as I want all the
home features, including Windows Media Center. I consider the ability to
send a FAX as both a home and business function. That was the case with
Windows XP, so why not with Vista? Now, I am stuck with the inability to
send a simple FAX with my modem as I could previously under Windows XP.

How can I easily resolve this fairly straightforward issue? I need a short
term solution. But, ultimately, I want to officially ask Microsoft to
provide this feature in a near-term online update to Windows Home Premium
users. It does not make sense that this feature was removed in the new
release, and I don't want to pay $150. to upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,
Alan

This program is not yet Vista compatible.
Nothing on the website, that I can find, says it is not compatable, please
advise where you found your information. Regards

Mighty Fax will not install in Vista. The company who makes this software is
working on a solution and said they hope to have a solution in a few months.
They indicated making FAX software for Vista is difficult.

I can't find any FAX software that will run in Vista. If anyone finds this,
please let me/us know.

I can use efax on the web, but I prefer to use the modem in my PC and my
current FAX phone number, which so many people I know already have.

How can we get Microsoft to release the FAX software in Business or Ultimate
to the Home Premium product?

Thanks for any FAX software suggestions or suggestions as to how to get
Microsoft to release the software currently in other versions of Vista. I'd
even be willing to pay $10.-$20. to Microsoft for this software update,

Any other ideas are appreciated.

Alan

Thank you very much to all who posted regarding my question. Bottom line is
Mighty Fax (at this time) does not work with Vista. Fortunately, I have two
hard drives and kept everything intact on my Windows XP. So for the time
being I will switch back and forth until hopefully Microsoft comes up with
some patches for Vista.

I totally agree that I do not wish to spend another $150 and upgrade to
Ultimate just for the purpose of being able to fax.

no, your glasses are fine
it's just that sites like vista-files (the link you posted) are taking
advantage of
the vista release to get visitors to their site, because most (if not all)
of the
software there isn't specifically listed as Vista compatible. I'm not
saying the
software listed there won't work with Vista, i'm just saying they didn't
make any attempt to test any of the software listed there with Vista .

Thanks "G" ,just trying ,as you were, to help a Lady in
distress, hopefully, she will get the fax working soon.

I can see where this is going. The only way I have been able to find a
solution over the short term is to go for the $150. upgrade to Windows Vista
Ultimate. If anyone else knows of another solution to add FAXing to Windows
Vista Home Premium, please let us know. This is ridiculous, but that's the
way it seems to be right now.

By the way, the retail stores don't seem to know that the Home Editions of
Vista do not include FAX software. In fact, they were quite surprised.

I did find an interesting document at the following link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...bf-4823-4a12-afe1-5b40b2ad3725&DisplayLang=en

Download the Vista Product Guide from the link above, and look on pages
18-21 to see the Windows Vista Editions Features Table. There is great
detail here about what features are in the various editions. Two things
jumped out at me, as follows:
- FAX features are not available in the Home Editions.
- Two Processors Support is not included in the Home Editions.

Both of these issues are concerning. If someone from Microsoft could
clarify this, it would really be appreciated. Perhaps this is an old table,
and there really is two processor support in the Home Editions. Please
comment/clarify.

Any suggestions from anyone will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Alan
