Looking for the very/ultra small text viewer for big logfiles.
Thanks
Yogev F.

If you find this one small enough:

There are still smaller ones but I like yhis one most: it's quick,
small, yet has suuficient functions, but not tó many. It's my prefered
notepad replacement, after testing several others.

At risk of exciting the exorcists, I suggest Vern Buerg's LIST.
Version 9.0e is 26 KB and toggles ASCII/HEX as required.
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/2072/download.htm

The current LIST Plus is 30 KB and does other things too.
It reads files to 16 MB. If you need more capability, LIST Enhanced
(40 KB) will handle files to 500 MB and adds EBCDIC viewing.

The older versions (e.g. 9.0e which dates from 1993) are *very* quick
and will work on WinME and Win2K Pro systems. I haven't tried the new
versions which are more designed for modern O/Ses and networks.

I don't think any versions allow *editing*. They are viewers with
searching, printing, and some other file management capabilities:

Finally, be aware that LIST is shareware.

Cheers, Phred.

I use the internal viewer of my file manager (OT here).
Textview is a good alternative, it also handles RTF files. I don't
know what you mean by "big". The largest file I've tried was 6.5 Mb.
From the author's site:

Textview is a handy program for Windows 9x/Me/NT/2k/XP to
quickly review large collections of text files, like i.e. CD-ROMs
full of source codes or extensive web-projects with many html-, java-
and other scripts. Features:
* Explorer-like browser window
* Display Unicode, UTF-8, UTF-7 and Mac text files
* Back, forward, run and quickview commands
* Create new file, save as, delete
* Open shell links
* Drag & Drop support
* Favorites management
* Mostly adjustable"

65 Kb download. You may also have to download the two runtime dll's.

If your file manger is from Christian Ghisler (like mine), than the
viewer *is not* OT. There is a separate download here:

http://www.ghisler.com/lister

This is the external freeware version of the excellent viewer.

This viewer works for RTF and HTML files too, and images etc..

This viewer program is very good and customizable.
Fonts, fonts size, background, user settings.
