need scanner recommendation

Looking for at least 1200 x 1200 flatbed. usb or firewire. I do not have
usb 2 and so am looking for one that can scan photo size pictures to
digitize my collection. I would spend $150 or less. I have read several
websites but still wonder about it. The canon 5000f is one that seemed ok.

Appreciate thoughts. I would like to be able to have an interface that
allows for quick copies etc. My microtek from years ago is still good but
works on my win 98 computer only. Need one for xp.

Which model? Many of the old ones going back to the E3 and E6 can use
Scanwizard 2.60 for XP. See http://www.support.microtek.com

But if it is SCSI, you may need a new PCI SCSI card for a new computer, and
in that case, a new scanner may seem a more attractive option.
