Need Rid of Annoying Header

Hi everyone,

Not sure if it can be called a "header", actually, but unable to think of
better.

Since switching internet servers a few months back, I have tried several
times unsuccessfully to rid the web page of the ever-present line of text
from my previous server at the very top of the page, (I can see it now as I
type).

It states "Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by Rogers Hi-Speed
Internet". I'm not sure why I find it so annoying but it is so.

Though a seemingly trivial issue, is there someone out there who can help?

Such headers are usually caused by some version of malware or spyware. Run
Ad-Aware to get rid of it.

What you are referring to is called "Branding" There are many ways to
manipulate IE's Title Bar, but if all your looking to do is to get rid of
the Rogers brand, and you don't feel like mucking around in the registry, go
here;

And download and run the .vbs script provided. All gone.
 
That is absolutely untrue. It is a setting made by the ISP. If I remember
right, it is a registry entry.
 
Easy way - REGEDIT. Use either the Edit/Find (or short-cut key ctrl/f) and
type in the text/header you want.
This will take you direct to the registry key. Delete it! (Back up registry
first for safety, but shouldn't give a problem).

You'd have to know the less trivial problems I've been having in order to

Try using FreshUI at www.freshdevices.com . You can change the title bar on
Internet Explorer with this tool to read to be anything you want it to be
(interface for registry change). It also has many other useful tweaks for
Windows machines. The price is free and so is registration of the software.

*Everything* on the Doug Knox site works. I find his pages to be invaluable
resources.

Welcome. And just as an aside. If you have "Spyware Blaster" installed?

You can edit the Title Bar easily. Just fire it up and hit the Tools button
on the left, and then choose, Misc. IE Settings. From there, you can type
in whatever you want, or nothing at all. Personally, I made it blank. This
way, no matter where I surf, all I see is the Title the author of the page
included in the HTML, and nothing else.

For instance, Google shows up in my Title Bar as just that, Google -

Spyware Blaster is a pretty neat program designed to stop the "nasties" from
ever finding their way onto your machine in the first place. It's my first
line of defense. And since I've had it installed, it's made Ad-Aware, and
Spybot Search & Destroy's jobs a lot easier.
