Hi

Can anyone recommend a good UK supplier of laptop drives?

My friends PC will no longer boot up - its displays "no OS found"

I suspected a virus or drive failure.

Its the latter - using a boot floppy I trid to run fdisk to get some
partition info and saw "This command requires a fixed drive". Oh Dear...

Although this could be due to a fault of the disc controller its a likely
bet the drive is dead. Its a 20Gb Fujitsu model MHN 2200AT.

My question is can I use any 2.5inch laptop drive in a presario 700 or does
it have to be 20Gb max? I suspect this model drive is no longer made so I'm
looking for a good replacement.

I can fit it myslef and re-install all the software so just need the best
prices.

Thanks for any info.

What year was your laptop made? That will reveal something about the largest
HDD capacity it can handle.

The most important thing that you must keep in mind when selecting a
replacement 2.5" HDD is its thickness, as not all 2.5" HDDs are the same
thickness. Your Fujitsu MHN2200AT has a 9.5mm thickness, and you must stay
with that thickness in order for the replacement to fit inside your laptop.
So be sure that you order a 2.5" HDD of thickness 9.5mm.

Hi Knack

Fantastic. Thanks for the taking the time to reply with such helpful info
and the link.

I'm not sure of how old the laptop is but the drive was manufactured in
2001.

Thanks again.
