Need Recommendation for an Application

Kathy

I'm hoping that someone will be able to recommend a
program for me to use for the following...I have an
Access database that is functional; however, I need to
add some "bells and whistles" such as animated graphics,
sound, flashing words, etc...basically, dress it up and
make it flashy.

My problem is that although I am more proficient than an
average Access user, I'm not a programmer. Therefore, I
cannot easily make the above happen. (Someone has tried
to help by suggesting ActiveX controls, but this is
beyond my knowledge base). My time frame for doing this
is rather limited, so I was hoping someone could offer
suggestions on how I can do this...even if I have to
start over using another program. If so, please let me
know which program I could use to do this in.

I REALLY need the help...and SOON!! Can someone help?

Thank you very much!!

You can do a lot of that (less than useful) stuff in Access. I am not sure
where I found it but I did once use a flashing font (maybe that was in
Word?) but you can use the forms timer property and ontimer event to make
changes so that you change image A to B to C so that it rotates or moves,
likewise use the event ot change font colours or toggle visible properties.

You do need to be able to use VBA and keep in mind that VB is probably more
robust for that sort of stuff (well for everything)

You "REALLY" need help "SOON" to add animated graphics, sound and flashing
words to an admittedly functional database?

I'd be asking myself if that was a productive use of my and my employer's
time! :-)

And yet, TC, you waste your own self-proclaimed 'valuable'
time so you can get a dig in on a stranger? Maybe YOU are
the one with too much time on your hands...

Kathy, don't let guys like this turn you off to the
newsgroups. There are LOTS of great people. Best to just
sheild your eyes from the glow illuminating the greatness
that just slammed you.

Hey Bonnie, ever heard of smileys? Take another look at my post.

It's perfectly legitimate to suggest that something might not be a good use
of time. I'd make exactly the same comment tomorrow, if I thought that
something called for it.

I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. Newsgroups can be terribly harsh
environments, for delicate souls like yourself! But I have not had too many
complaints from the other 4000+ people who I have helped in various Access
newsgroups over the past 10 years or so.

Cheers,
TC

Bonnie,

When TC wrote (with the smiley emoticon, I note)

he was simply pointing out what every one of my paying clients would have
said about "animated graphics, sound, and flashing words" without any smile,
smiley, or emoticon. They were willing to pay the going rate (and a premium
rate, if the work were well and promptly done) for solving business issues,
but they were not willing to spend a nanocent on "glitz and glitter" (which
is exactly how they'd regard "animated graphics, sound, and flashing
words").

TC might, just possibly, have caused the original poster to reconsider and
saved her some management hassles and grief. I can just see myself trying to
determine time spent to back out charges for that kind of thing if my
clients determined I'd charged them for it!

Hi Larry

I originally thought the OP might reply along the following lines: "They
asked me to finish it off so we could send it to more people. If I don't add
flashing words & graphics etc., what else can I do to make it seem more-like
a finished product?"

That could have led to a useful discussion about technical documentation,
online help, error handling, installation programs etc. etc. - way more
value than flashing lights & mirror balls.

But we shall never know!

Cheers,
TC
