Earlier today, I received great advice to transfer my MP3 music files to wav files to make them more compatible with movie maker. I found a ton of free ones, but they all had a million pop-ups making me nervous that I was going to download viruses. Does anyone have a recommendation for quality one?

Thank you!

One possibility - the native format for MM1 narration files is WAV.... if
the Stereo Mix option is available to you, play the MP3 files in any player,
and use MM1 to capture what you're listening to as narration files in WAV
format.

My favourites are following all freeware and without any ads/nags etc:

Besweet: Most versatile audio transcoder
http://dspguru.doom9.net/

CDex: Best Cd ripping tool.
Has mp3 to wav capability (select menu Convert->Convert compressed audio to
WAV)
http://www.cdex.n3.net/

SIMPLE: Most simple tool to convert between mp3 and wav.

TMPGenc: Best quality audio/video encoder/converter
http://www.tmpgenc.net

I will be highly surprised if none of these could satisfy your needs. I use
them regularly with tmpgenc being most used of all these.
