I am currently using a HP 2110 all-in-one printer, scanner and copier.
After having MANY problems with the unit, and the defective refurbished
units HP sent as replacements, HP is sending me a brand new retail-boxed
unit which I plan on selling on eBay as-is. (I will give credit to HP -
their tech support has been very knowledgeable and professional. After the
third defective unit, when I requested a new unit, they elevated it to a
supervisor who called me back the next day and readily agreed.)

I am looking for a input on the comparable Canon (F60/20) and Epson (CX5200)
units which I will buy in the HP's place. Any recommendations? My criteria
are (1) text print quality using generic inkjet paper, (2) printing
occassional photos and (3) occassional scanning, usually of B&W diagrams.
My usage is small enough that consumable costs isn't really a factor. Also,
currently I am using Win XP, but may switch to OS X during the life of the
printer (this would appear to rule out the Canon).

Thanks.

How do you know it is a defective device and not your pc? Just curious.

Each time the problem has been different (e.g. the printer display would say
"Carriage Jam" even though the heads were free to move along the printer
carriage, the scanner would be in-op despite the rest of the printer
working, etc.). Additionally, I spent over two hours going through various
checks on my PC with HP tech support in the first call; the PC and driver
installation are fine.

Thanks for the idea, though. I am always looking for justification for
buying a faster PC. ;-D
