Hi,

I am looking for the Powerpoint program, my son needs for
school presentation. We have Windows XP Home Edition and I
cannot find Powerpoint. Is Powerpoint called something
else on this on the Home Edition? And is the Powerpoint
software compatible with Home Edition?

I know just enough to be dangerous!

Thanks in advance,

David

PowerPoint is a stand alone program, or is part of the Microsoft Office Suite, which are application software. Windows XP Home edition is an operating system, not an application package. Hope this helps. The latest version PowerPoint 2003 is due to be released later this month. It will work just fine on your XP home system.

David,

Windows XP is the operating system and has nothing to do with Office
applications. You will need to buy Office or PowerPoint as an application.

Michael,

Can Powerpoint be purchased alone, or can it be downloaded
from Microsoft.com. Does it only come in a M/S bundle with
other applicagtion software that I don't need or already
have? I called OfficeMax and they said that I have to
purchase Windows XP Professional for $299.

Thanks in advance,

David A.

PowerPoint can be purchased by its self, or as part of the Microsoft Office Suite. You do not have to purchase XP Professional. I am running PowerPoint 2002 under XP Home edition.

Michael,

Thanks alot, what a relief...Hopefully this will be my last
question. Where can I buy Powerpoint by itself? I live in
California. We have Office Depot, OfficeMax, Staples,
CompUSA, BestBuy, Circuit City, Target, Wal-Mart, and Club
stores like Costco and Sams Club.

Thanks Again,

David A.

Hi David,

Just a thought I had. Are you sure you need the
PowerPoint program and not just the viewer (which is a
free download)? PowerPoint 2002 is over $200.00 and I'm
just wondering if your son needs to make a presentation,
or view a presentation.
