need opinion on Zonealarm 6.0/NAV 2005

How well does NAV 2005 and ZoneAlarm pro Firewall 6.0 how well does this two
work together? Is this a good combination need some opinion.

Is ZoneAlarm pro 6.0 buggy, i read some user reviews and a lot of complaints
about 6.0 version.

Be aware that it is normal to hear bad things about a program. Very few
people post that something is working perfectly. If there are a few bad
reports then it may be that there are many users and a few of them are
having problems.

That said I do not recommend either program. I repair computers for a
living. I see many computers with problems caused by both programs. NAV 2005
is a good anti-virus but it hogs a lot of system resources and can slow down
your system noticably. Zone Alarm also works well for what it is supposed to
do. The problems arise sometimes when you try to either upgrade it or
uninstall it. It can cause your Internet to quit working altogether until
you hunt down all it's files and delete them manually. They have a program
you can download that sometimes fixes this but it doesn't always work. NAV
2005 also sometimes has problems with uninstalling itself. I am leery of
programs that do not uninstall properly. You would think that whoever
programmed the install would also be able to program the uninstall.

I have been using ZoneAlarm since it came out several years ago and I love
it. Black Ice is also good. Zonealarm just added its own version of SpyBot
to its Firewall and having the spyware program integrated with the firewall
and not eat up more memory is a great idea.In the years I have used
ZoneAlarm I had one problem with it and it was a Windows problem when SP2
for XP came out. I pay the Lic. fee every year and they keep the hackers
out.

I recommend KAV from www.kaspersky.com and Outpost from www.agnitum.com
though Kaspersky has an AntiHacker application that is a firewall and does a
decent job and is simple enough to use. There is, in fact, a Kaspersky
Personal Security Suite that's available for just about $50 dollars. The
applications above are all fairly light on system resources and easy enough
to configure. They are all very effective. If you're an advanced user who
really wants to lock a system down then a trial version of the latest
Outpost might be something you'd like to review before making your purchase
choice.

Just remember NEVER run 2 Firewalls at the same time you will have nothing
but trouble. I would suggest downloading trial versions of several, try one
for a month then remove or disable it and try another one. It seems like a
lot of work but when you are trying to protect your investment in time you
have on your PC, it is not a lot to do. Also stay away from trialware that
is not fully functional. if a company thinks they have good software they
should give you a full copy with at least a free 30 day lic. well good luck
and check PC Mags. site for there unbiased rating on some software
firewalls. If you have kids you may want to spend that 50.00 to 100.00 on a
hardware firewall, they are upgraded online and have many more options and
are harder to defeat then a software firewall.

ZA Pro 5.5.094 would be my choice from the current Zonelabs lineup.

In a one week trial, I found ZoneAlarm Pro 6.0.631.003 is inferior to 5.5.

NOD32 is much lighter than NAV2005, with better detection. Avast is a
close second.

I've been using ZoneAlarm (free version) with NAV for over a couple of years
(now ZoneAlarm 6.0.631.003 and NAV 2005) and haven't had any problems, they
work just fine. In fact, I particularly love ZoneAlarm. I also run it with
Webroot Spy Sweeper, Microsoft Spyware (Beta), and Spybot Search & Destroy
without any problems.
