I ran into the NTLDR missing error on laptop. Not having an XP Home
installation disk for my laptop, I tried the MSFT fix uisng my XP Pro
installation disk and recovery console (e.g. copy x:i386ntldr c:). Copy went
OK but now the laptop gives me an invalid boot.ini file. I examined the
boot.ini file and it appears to be ok. I think the problem is that I have XP
PRO ntldr with an installed XP HOME OS (e.g. boot.ini, ntdetect, etc.). I
think if I can get my hands on the right ntldr file I wil be OK. I am able to
boot and run the laptop with my XP Pro installation disk in the CD Drive, so
I have access to my jump drives and the internet. Dave

Try booting to the Windows XP Recovery Console using your XP Pro CD
and then enter the following command:

BOOTCFG /REBUILD

That should create a new BOOT.INI file. You probably should make a
backup copy of the old one before you run this command.

Good luck
