Ginny

Yesterday I set up newsgroups in Outlook (with the help
of Prodigy/sbc tech help. Several downloaded ok. But I
could not synchronize.

Today, I was able to get to the Newsgroups one time but
got an NNTP error. Found some old messages which were
from an old Outlook Express account that I thought was
dead, but couldn't get any new headers downloaded.

After exiting NEWS, I could not get back in. The news
account seems to have utterly vanished. Can anyone help
me? Thanks

Hi, Ginny - Outlook doesn't read news; it launches Outlook Express for that.
Make sure you're running the latest version of IE/OE (go to
windowsupdate.microsoft.com for this and for critical patches too). I'd try
setting up a new news account in OE and see what happens - if you can't get
it to work, post in an OE group for best results

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.outlookexpress.mac for OE for Macintosh

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).

A good website for information on OE is:
http://www.tomsterdam.com/
