Need new XP Pro license

I recently purchased my laptop from my previous employer
when I left. It had been upgraded from ME to XP Pro. I
did not get the XP Pro upgrade CD when I left.

How do I get my own personal license for XP Pro? Do I
need to buy a copy of XP Pro upgrade? Do I need to go
through the installation process again? What are the
steps I need to take?

Barbara;
Do you have qualifying media for an upgrade? (Windows 98, ME etc)
If you do, you need Windows XP Pro upgrade.
Otherwise you need the full version of Windows XP Pro.
This will give you a valid license.

As long as you have no problems, you do not need to do anything else.

If you want to change it to your new Product Key, you can perform a
Repair Installation using your new CD and Product Key:

Windows Updates will need to be reinstalled.

Jeff;
It takes more than getting the Product Key from the computer to make a
valid license.
If there is no original Certificate of Authenticity or an original
Product, there is not a valid license.
