Hi
I upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows XP. I have 3.66 GB
of total disk space. After upgrading, I keep getting low
disk space alerts and have only 250 MB of free space. I
believe I may have backed up my Windows 98 (I can't
remember). Could that be where all my disk space went?
How do I find this backup and delete it?

Hi Anil,

That really is too small for WinXP, however.....

- Uninstall unneeded programs (control panel/add &remove)

- If you opted to backup the existing system when upgrading, remove the undo
file using add & remove in the control panel (Warning: this means no going
back to Win98)

- Delete everything in temp folders, catch both:

C:\Windows\temp
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp

- Control panel/system/system restore tab/settings, reduce the space
allotted to SR

- Control Panel/Internet Options/general tab/TIF settings, reduce the size
allowed

You might also want to consider reducing the pagefile.sys depending upon how
you use the system.
