I am interesting in purchasing a "high speed" laser jet printer with
duplex printing capabilities. Any suggestions as to brand, model, etc.

IMO, you can't go wrong with an HP laser. Many models and price ranges.
Check their web site for details.
 
You can get some direction by reading PCWorld.com and PCmag.com

While HP has been the leader for a number of years much depends on the
model. I would read all of the reviews and then ask others for information.

How "high speed"? What monthly volume do you expect? Is this for a
single user or a network printer? Is color required? What size
printing? Do you want strictly a printer or would an all-in-one device
be of interest?

thinks that 5 yr old articles in pc mags are the last word!

Take a look at the HP Laserjet 1320. I have been satisfied so far with over
20,000 pages printed. Also, there is a Brother brand that is very similar in
capabilities and performance.
