We need a program that will indicate whether a machine has Internet
connectivity at any time. It should place an icon in the task tray (or on
the task bar) that is e.g. green when Internet connectivity exists, and red
when there is no connection to the ISP.

The ISP connection is dialup from another machine on the LAN, and
occasionally a service interruption occurs. We'd like to be able to let any
win2000 box display the Internet connectivity status, not just the LAN
connectivity as is currently done in the task tray.

I suppose this would be accomplished by a regularly-scheduled ping request
to an address located "out there somewhere", even if it's just on the ISP's
side of the connection, such as a DNS server.

Any suggestions, please?

Unfortunately, http://sourceforge.net/projects/pingstat/ isn't yet
available, but it seems as if it might fit the requirements if it displays a
dynamic icon.

It's perfect, thank you.
