Hello,

I have a question regarding setup of shared folders and am not sure which MS
NG to post it in.

I have a situation where I have setup two shared folders (about a year apart
in time each) and am having problems accessing one of them, but not the
other. So the question will pertain to:

1 - How to properly setup shares, and

2 - How to look at the one share that is working, and write down the
settings, then apply them to the one that is not (if possible).

BTW: here are the parameters I'm working with:

FileServer: Windows 2000
Workstation: XP Pro, SP2 (although one is SP3)

So, which NG do you suggest?

microsoft.public.windowsxp.network_web is the one.

You can also look in MVP Jack's website.

You can setup shares using net share as follows:

Start/Run cmd

net share ? (gets instructions on how to use this command)

You can also setup shares in Windows....

Shares are easy to enable. It is the mapping that has snares.

It is a newsgroup which is hosted on msnews.microsoft.com.
If you are accessing this newsgroup through the web interface, you might
find that OE does a lot better job of accessing newsgroups.
