Hello,

I have a situation where I have two shared folders (setup about a year apart
in time each), which I had read/write rights establised.

Now I'm only able write to one (the oldest one) and the newer one I can only
read it, but not write any longer.

So my question is:

1 - How to properly setup shares, and

2 - How to look at the one share that is allowing read/writes and somehow
copy the settings, then apply them to the one that is not (allowing write to).

Any KB or input would be greatly appreciated.

FileServer: Windows 2000
Workstation: XP Pro, SP2 (although one is SP3)

Check the permission in Security tab. By default it setup read only.

If I set the permision to "Read Only" will I still be able to write data to
the folder? I just want to clarify again that I WAS able to write to both of
them (new folder, copying files to, etc) but now can only write to the older
folder.

Yes. XP ignores that box.
You need to check the permissions of the account that actually access the
folder in question.
This account is the local account which the remote account uses.
