Hi!
I have a friend in another state that is having problems with her Win
98 computer accessing the interent to browse. I had her run Trend's
House Call and it found 12 occurences of malware / viruses. I am not
sure what they were, but she got a message that IE6 was corrupted. I
talked her through trying to repair IE6 and she learned that it needs
to be reinstalled.
She can not find her Win 98 CD and I am trying to find a way for her to
replace the existing IE6 installation. SHe can access the net through
PalTalk and such but can not browse. I tried sending her the entire
IE6 package that I downloaded from an online archive, but the file (76+
mb) was too large to transfer. I could send her a CD, but that would
take time, as she is out of state. She really uses the net as her
lifeline, since she is to a great degree house bound.
I suggested that she try to find a copy of the AOL distribution CD
(those "free offers" that hang everywhere till you need them. LOL) But
she can not find that CD either.
I think she has Lime Wire already loaded on her system. Is there a way
to transfer an 80 mb file over Lime Wire to her computer?? Or can
anyone suggest another approach.
I would appreciate any ideas - this lady has been disabled and depends
on the computer for entertainment and outside contact.
Thanks!
Steve
