My new computer has failed - not a big deal, seems to be a memory problem and it is under warranty. Problem is that I have used my computer to store 10 years of video that I am making into DVDs (guess that my procrastinating has caught up to me). I am afraid to send my hard drive with the CPU to HP for repairs without having a backup of my videos and digital pictures. Thought that this would be easy, I have an external hard drive and bought an ide to USB cradle to insert my hard drive and have connected all to my laptop. The problem is that the hard drive from the desk top was password protected in XP and it won't ask for password or allow me access to the files that I would like to copy. Is there any way that I can copy these files before shipping my CPU to HP for repairs. Any help would be greatly appreciated
