Bob

I know it's not XP ,but I need your help, I have a friend that has windows
98, last month he got a
new tool bar called
mywaysearch and I would like to get rid of it for him, any ideas. Also he
downloaded a program
called Answering Machine and I would like to get rid of it too.
He has been upgraded to Second Edition and IE6 and OE6 Thank you
Bob

Not being familiar with Win'98 I can only assume that free programs like SpyBot Search and Destroy will work on the OS and find such spyware as the search bar you have. Good luck.

so can you not go to control panel/add remove programs and get rid of them
there?

Hi Bob,

You can download the following programs; first, however, you have to
make sure that they work on Win 98 researching the download pages.
Also, when they come up with a list of things to delete, make sure you
don't delete anything important to the system.

I repeat the warning, make sure they work under Win 98!

Download the utility CWshredder:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip

Unzip - close *all* instances of IE & OE, hit the executable and
follow
the prompts.

You can also download Hijack This from here:

http://www.mjc1.com/files/merijn/hijackthis.exe

Go here:
http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/

For instructions on how to use it; you have to post the log it
produces so experts tell you what is good and what is malware

Try downloading, installing and updating the
spyware removers from the links below. Run both of them.

Spybot S&D
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?lang=en&page=download

If these don't correct the problem, then get yourself a copy of
BHODemon, available at
http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm .

It does not need installing - simply unzip and run the EXE program. It
is easy to use. It will find the hijackware DLL files, and give you
the ability to disable them.

Hope this helps.
