I just got a pro-tools interface from Digidesign - it's
used for personal home recordings. I already intalled it
and it works fine. I hooked up a mike and an instrument
and some speakers and they sound okay. What i would like
to know if there is a way that i can listen to media
files through this software without bying a sound card.
Is there way to make windows media player compatible with
protools software so that i can listen to MP3's, CDs and
other files through protools software. If anyone knows,
please don't hesitate to tell me. I'll appreciate it.
thank you

You need a Sound Card for Any computer sounds. Even Media Player. The
only exceptions are the basic beeps such as when you boot up, which are
played through the case speaker. But, The case speaker isn't good for
Music.

If Media player is working for you. then you alrady have a Sound Card.
It may be integrated on to the Motherboard. It will still work for your
needs.
