Ok,

I'm not a web designer just a photographer trying to get my site up and
working. I paid a designer to make the template pages for me. The designer
was suppose to give ma a turn key site and publish it for me. After 3 months
of emails as to why it wasn't finish we settled for a price and I took over.
I have published the site to www.ifpdigital.com when I go to there all I
see is a list of all my files? If I go to www.ifpdigital.com/index.htm the
site works fine. Someone told me I need to rename my first page to
index.html because the FrontPage extensions on the server will not
automatically open the index.htm, it must see a html? I tried to rename it
in the explorer but when I pulled it up it was index.html.htm? As you have
gathered by now I have no clue as to what I'm doing. Also the pages are
super slow to pull up. The enlarged photos a fast. I optimize all those in
Adobe image ready. Is there a way to optimize a page after you have pasted
all those resized thumbnails on it?

Thanks for any help.

Robert

Do what Thomas said and then take all the spaces out of your image
names..... and page names also, if that applies. Also, your site is much
wider than 800 as you say is needed on your first page. One of the larger
photos I opened was 1131 wide... and took a long time to load (I'm using a
56k modem). Your thumbnails aren't really thumbnails at all... they are huge
file sizes. Getting these files chopped down will probably end a lot of your
problems. Are you also willing to have the larger photos be no wider than
about 500 so they will load more quickly?
I would certainly be willing to help you ... for a fee, of course. If you
wish to consider that please contact me at (e-mail address removed)

.
front page extensions have nothing to do with which page
gets opened. the web server that you are publishing to
determines what the page name should be. usually it is
index.htm or index.html. most servers will open either.
the easiest way to change the name is to open the file
index.htm in fp and then save as index.html. delete
index.htm and then publish your web with the "publish
changed pages only" option set. you might also ask your
isp what web server software they use.

Thanks to everybody I now have the site up and running. It is still slow on
all pages except the portraits page. I resized all the thumbnails. I will do
the same to the others.
