Hi,
I can't remember the last time I looked at the Services list, but now that I
checked, I found several Services missing. They are:
Alerter
Computer Browser
Messenger
Net Logon
NT LM Security Service Provider
Server
Workstation

I just installed IIS together with FPSE 2000 and wondering if I could
retrieve the missing services.

I'm running XP Professional with Service Pack 1 installed.

Thank you.

Because you cannot reinstall a Service on its own you may have to
reinstall Windows: "How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade
(Reinstallation) of Windows XP"
At first you can try the System File Checker which should help if this
is caused by that a system file is missing or damaged. Type
SFC /scannow
from Start > Run.

Thank you very much for the reply. I've checked my system and found that the
Registry entries for some services are missing. I have no idea what caused
their disappearance. The list of services are:

Alerter
Computer Browser
Messenger
Net Logon
NT LM Security Service Provider
RPC Locator
Server
Workstation

I have restored their registry settings but unable to insert their ImagePath
entries because I dont know which exe they need. Can you please post me
their default registry entries at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\

Thank you very much
