I volunteer with an organization that has about 20 computers linked
through a LAN using Microsoft software and an ethernet protocol. We
have lost track of the software that has been installed on the
machines and need to do an inventory. We do know that the operating
systems vary from Win 98 to the latest versions. We have heard that
there is software that we can run that will tell us all the software
on each of the computers. Can anyone suggest some software, perhaps
some freeware that will help us do this?

Not sure that this is the right newsgroup. If not would you direct me
to the correct newsgroup.

Try this: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

It's simple to use. It places an icon on your desktop that you can then
launch to see the report. It will tell you everything that is in your PC
from hardware to installed software.
