I recently got a new PC with Windows Vista. I am not really PC savy. I had
RoadRunner put on my PC. Then I realized that I wanted to also be able to
use Windows Mail. Well, it's great when you first setup because it walks
you through it. But, unfortunately I had the SMTP information incorrect.
Every time I try to email something from the Internet using this I get an
error message that says my SMTP in correct on my server. I am completely
stumped. I have NO idea how to get back to where I put in the SMTP
information. I have looked at every search I can think of and still can't
find anything. Could someone PLEASE HELP ME? My email address is
(e-mail address removed)

TOOLS menu|ACCOUNTS

Select (highlight) your mail account

Click PROPERTIES, then the SERVERS tab

Make the correction, and click on OK

Just FYI, it's not wise to put your address in newsposts; spammers
harvest those addresses.

If all else fails, call TW. Call their main number in your area and go thru
the voice menu.
They should be glad to help you as you are paying them a lot.
If you have their cable, etc it should be almost automatic....

Dolores, the time stamp on your post was one hour into the future!
This is because your PC is set for the Central time zone, but
you are actually in the Eastern time zone. Kindly fix your time
zone setting.

Others have already addressed your question, so I won't go
into that.

Please post the exact error message. From your limited description you may
well have the SMTP server settings correct and have a different problem.
You can check your settings by logging into RoadRunner's Web page and going
to their mail page to check the settings. Other things that may cause
similar messages include having an anti-virus scanning email. The
anti-virus adds no protection by scanning email in addition to its resident
checks, but it does slow down email which can cause such problems. What
anti-virus are you using?
