I am trying to connect to my laptop from my desktop pc.
Both are running XP Pro. Both have been set up to allow
remote access.

I keep getting the error message:
"Remote connections might not be enabled or the computer
might be too busy to accept new connections. It is also
possible that network problems are preventing your
connection."

I'm betting on the network problems, but don't know where
to start. We have a cable modem and router set up with
several computers attached. The two computers I am trying
to tie together are in the same workgroup. When searching
for the computer, the workgroup appears, but if I click
on it I get the message that there are not terminal
servers set up in this workgroup. What's going on? What
do I try next??

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Terri

If this is over a local private LAN call using the LAN IP of the laptop. You normally can not use
the browse feature in a work group environment. If you really want to do that look at this KB
article for help. Reboot each PC once the change to the registry has been made.

Tried the IP address and got the same message. Also
configured the TSAdvertise DWord as the KB article
suggested, and the AllowTSConnections DWord as instructed
in response to another user's request for help on the
same subject. None of this has helped. I can ping both
machines (from each other) and can access shared files in
either direction as well, but I still need the remote
desktop capacity too. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Terri

Problem resolved!! Host machine was originally used as a
client in another remote situation. Host machine needed
Terminal Services enabled! Now connecting through IP
address. Thanks for the help!
