Have 2 computers (1 home, 1 pro), both can access
internet (through router). When trying to ping intranet,
#1 can ping #2, but when #2 tries to ping #1 timeouts
occur. Have turned off XP firewall on both
computers...any suggestions?

One-way pings are almost always caused by a firewall program on the
computer that can't be pinged. Make sure that you disabled XP's
firewall on the proper network connection. Un-install all firewall
programs (ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet Security, Sygate Personal
Firewall, etc) while troubleshooting.

If you previously un-installed a firewall program, re-install it,
un-install it, reboot, and go to Start | Run | Msconfig | Startup to
disable any remnants of it.
