I have installed:
mainboard Abit KT7a
pross Athlon 1GHz
graphic creative Geforce2 200
system W2000

It's been runnig stable for one year... when I made the mistake to update
all the drivers expecting to get better performance (especially while I'm
playing). So I've updated the chipset (via kt133), the mainboard bios, and
now I get some random stop while I play counter-strike (grrrrrr).
And I've never been able to install the new nvidia drivers on my graphic
card: it just wouldn't work
Anybody have any suggestion on how to get it to work with updated drivers?
I've been looking all over internet without finding any clue

here are two things to try...
one of them will prob solve the problem...but i don;t know which
would be best to try first:

try deleting all your chipset drivers
then reinstall the original ones

if you still have the problem
reflash the bios with the original

It would be better also if he did a clean re-install.

Getting random freezes are really common unfortunately and Im assuming
that you literally got freezes exactly after you installed the new
drivers because a lot of things can cause them. One if the infamous
bad capacitor problem.

Youre also running Win2000 so who knows how compatible that is with
various drivers.

However - I had and several others have had problems with newer
drivers in the Abit group with VIA chips sets. Stick with the drivers
recommended at the Abit site the ones they have directly for download
at their site under your board.

The latest nVidia drivers are intended for their newer cards (GeForce FX).
You'll probably find more stability with one of the older drivers for your
older card.
