Hiya. I am trying to find some java software so that I can use chat and all those other things that require Java. I did have the software but I had to re-format my HDD and now I can't find it again. I am running the XP home edition OS which does not come with java (or a limited amount of it)

Download all three of these files and install one at a time with a reboot inbetween,
"Microsofts version of Java" with the sun's version you will constatly become infected with the byte verify trojan.

Greetings --

As the result of a lawsuit by Sun Microsystems, and the ensuing
settlement, Microsoft was not allowed to provide its own Java Virtual
Machine to Windows XP users. You can get almost the same
functionality by downloading Sun's version of Java from
http://java.sun.com/getjava/index.html. If you want the wider website
compatibility of Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine, it is still
available from a lot of 3rd-party web sites, some of which are listed
here: http://www.java-virtual-machine.net/download.html.

If you do choose the Microsoft JVM, be sure to visit Windows
Update to apply a needed security patch.

Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-011

(Prevents the Trojan.ByteVerify issue)

Go to http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html and download the latest
JRE (Java Runtime Environment).
