I bought it used on EBay. I wanted to build a cheap system for my
grandson. I already have an old system, but it was really old.
Anyway, I installed the MOBO/CPU/RAM, and powered it up just fine. But
it behaves in a crazy way.
It seems that the BIOS will not recognize the floppy drive (A as a
bootable device - as if it weren't even there, yet when I get to W98 I
can read the content of a diskette in the floppy drive. When I go
into the BIOS, the floppy is not presented as a boot choice.
Further, the BIOS recognizes the CD drive just fine, and allows it to
be set as a bootable device - yet when I get to W98, the drive does
not show at all anywhere. System will NOT boot from the CD drive
either - even when I set it as the ONLY bootable drive in the BIOS.
This of course would prevent me from installing XP from an
installation disk.
I have played with this all morning. Any ideas? Is the MOBO bad?
BIOS bad? Any way I can deal with this?
Thanks
