Hi everyone. I have a HP pavilion 563w. I got windows XP on it. My problem is
that I just changed the password to my account so no one can log on to my
account, but I can't remember the new password. Is there a way for me to
by-pass the password for me to enter my account? I could only log-on to my
wife's account. I tried to find a way to get into my account through my
wifes' but It's denying me access. This is the first time this happens to me,
and will be the last.

I'm not sure what this has to do with your subject line about an IBM laptop,
but:

Is your wife's account a computer administrator? If so, simply log onto her
account and go to the User Accounts applet in Control Panel. You can change
the password for *your* account there. If there is some other information
that I'm missing here and you can't do that (like her account is Limited
for instance):

In XP Home, boot the computer into Safe Mode. Do this by repeatedly tapping
the F8 key as the computer is starting up. This will get you to the right
menu. Navigate using your Up arrow key; the mouse will not work here. Once
in Safe Mode, you will see the normally hidden Administrator account. The
default password is a blank.

In XP Pro, you do not need to go into Safe Mode. At the Welcome Screen, do
Ctrl-Alt-Del twice to get the classic Windows logon box. Type in
"Administrator" and whatever password you assigned when you set up Windows.

If you reset the built-in Administrator account's password in Home or have
Pro and don't remember the password, use NTpasswd to change the built-in
Administrator account's password to a blank.

Then go to the User Accounts applet in Control Panel and set passwords that
you will remember and make other desired changes.

I think that this IS the wife trying to access her Hubby's account LOL

After installing Internet Explorer 7 (release candidate 1), I am unable to
"define and create backups - IBM rescue and recovery" and "restore backups -
IBM rescue and recovery" using the "Access IBM software" that is installed on
IBM Thinkpad notebooks.

After uninstalling IE7 (RC1), the IBM software functions mentioned above can
run.

I tried to reinstall IE7 (RC1) again following all instructions closely
including temporarily disabled anti-virus and anti-spyware applications.
However, after reinstalling IE7(RC1), the same problem persists. Unable to
use the "Access IBM" software to create and restore backups. The backup and
restore screens do not appear after clicking on them.

Please advise.

Thank you and regards,
Vincent.

I am having the exact same problems as Vincent.

It turns out that several errors happened after the installation of IE7
RC-1.

br_funcs.exe is required for the thinkpad rescue and recovery......this
was deleted when i tried to remove ie7.

now i cannot use rescue and recovery to restore any of the missing
files......because the uninstall of ie7 removed the required
executable.

how do you fix that one microsoft?
