I am working on a spreadsheet for the companies bottom line an
determining bonuses. The beginning number (beginning Gross) is
negative number this month, but it could be a positive number nex
month depending on sales. I then need to subtract salemen's bonuse
from the Beg. Gross and then Add the companies owner's salary from thi
total.

Here is an example:

Beg. Gross: (-2390.00) Negative Bal.
Minus - unit count (N) -210.00
Minus - unit count (U) -300.00
Add - Owners Salary +5040.00
Minus - Salesmen Bonus -249.00
Minus - Salesmen Bonus -700.00
Minus - Salesmen Bonus -750.00
_______

So, I need a formula for the above example. If someone could help me
I'd really appreciate it very much. I may eventually have mor
question on some more pages within the spreadsheet

Hi Mitzy,
Let's assume the words in your example are in cells A1 to A7, and the
numeric values are in B1:B7
So B1 holds the BegGross Value
(I will assume when you say "Add owner's salary FROM.., your really mean TO
The formula you need is =B1+B4-(B5+B6+B7)
It does not matter what sign BegGross has.

Best wishes

Thank you so much Bernard! I am fairly new at creating formulas, bu
have done some. Your formula was so simple. I was thinking it had t
be more complicated since it started with a negative amount.

I may be back if I get stumped again.:
