I am running widows 2000 on a stand alone IBM Netvista machine
Lately I run chkdsk on drive c and got a message similar to the following
"The type of the file system is RA
Check Disk is not available for this disk type

and the process stops

Any ideas to resolve the problem will be appreciated

Thank

Google for "partition recovery" and download a free tool. One or more
on-disk structure-tables is damaged, and normal OS processes cannot find
anything to access where your C: was, or any sign that it was ever
formatted. With luck, if the drive/controller hardware is sound, a
utility designed for the purpose may be able to reconstruct the lost
information.

If you do recover, immediately back up everything on the whole drive.

Whether you recover or not, download and run that drive manufacturer's
diagnostic utility. Discuss its report with the manufacturer's tech support.
