Hi, I previously installed windows vista beta 2, and everything appeared to
work correctly untill I tried to boot back into windows xp. I chose "boot to
previous version of windows" from the boot menu, and the grey bar at the
bottom of the screen filled up to 100%, and then just froze. I left it for
hours and still nothing happened. I can only boot into vista now. If
anybody knows the solution to this problem, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks :)

Have you tried booting XP into safe mode (using advanced options on the boot
screen), don't know if it'll work but it may shed some light.

Second thing to try, when I installed Vista my bootload crapped out and I
had to launch the Vista installer's repair option to fix it. You could see
if you get a similiar fix.

I tried every option there was on the boot menu. When I used safe mode, it
flashed the partion screens where the system (.sys) files were and then froze
[ex. multidisk(0)parition(2)..../system32/sysfile.sys]
I think it was just another way of creating the exact same error.
(Could it be that there is a problem with the windows xp boot?)

How did you install Vista? If you upgraded, or installed to the same
partition, then you are likely not going to be able to boot to XP.

You need to have 2 partitions. Install XP on one, and then install Vista to
the second.
