Greetings,
I have a problem that is very annoying. I set up backup
jobs to run at night, and for the backups to backup to
tape, which is a Sony 4MM DDS drive. I have a total of 12
tapes that I prepared according to documentation. All
seemed to be fine until recently I checked the backups to
make sure all was OK, only to find that not all of them
have been running fine.
The problem is that when a tape is in the drive, it should
say it's a \Backup\4mm DDS in the Media Pool column.
However, most of them say that they are from the
\Import\Unknown Media Pool! If I try to prepare them
again, I get a message saying that "The Media is write
protected," when it's not! Then if I try to use the tape
with Backup, it isn't recognized, rendering the tape
useless. This has happened on eight of the 12 tapes.
Would anybody have any idea how to straighten this out? I
don't want to have to toss these perfectly fine tapes, buy
new ones, then have it happen again!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike
