Hello all

I recently changed from a Thinkpad T60 to a Thinkpad T400 laptop, both using
XP Professional. I have a USB KVM switch to use a single keyboard, monitor
and mouse for this laptop and a desktop. My problem is that when I switch
back to the T400 from the desktop it takes almost 20 seconds before the USB
mouse and keyboard become active again. When I had the T60, also running XP
Pro, the mouse and keyboard came back immediately. This is the same switch,
monitor, mouse and keyboard that was being used in both situations. I am
wondering if there is a USB or other config setting on the T400 that is not
set properly. When the mouse and keyboard finally do wake up, they are fine,
no problems with them.

Any help would be appreciated as it is annoying to have to wait for them to
"wake" up.

Thanks!

Any chance it's an IO Gear KVM? I found out the hard way that they have
p-poor static protection and blew two of them before I got wise. They
used CMOS cktry without anything to prevent the gates from locking if
they got hit too hard with a reverse voltage. Once they locked, only a
total unplug-replug would unlock the CMOS.

Hi Twayne,

No it is not an IO Gear, it is a StarTech powered 2 port USB. I have
already set the power option on all of the USB Root Hubs, but that hasn't
helped either. I have uninstalled all USB devices and let them redetect and
install, no help either. Makes no sense to me.
